Instagram post 2191774657904168110_205370186 Thank you for the messages, support and to those that could come today.
Dad loved a good crisp day. He was happier in the shade or even happier walking in the hills with the dog on a foggy day so the fact today the fog didn’t lift actually didn’t surprise me.
Dad once told that life is a bit like a mist.. “The mist will wrap itself around you; it is silent not cold. It is as white as the first snow of winter not grey and dark like fog. It sparkles with the snow behind it, the very thing that will disperse it and take it away. You can see the mist; you can feel it, it wraps itself around you, it gets in your clothes, your hair, your skin, you can smell it, you can breathe it, you can even taste it.
But the one thing you can not do is hold it.” I totally get that now.

Oscar and Hooch – Review of collar and lead

February 26, 2018      admin      Leave a Comment

What dog doesn’t like going for walkies? Penny (Penny Lane named as Dylan is obsessed with the Beatles) certainly loves them. In fact she bounces around like a kangaroo and races to the front door the moment you said “walk…(runs)… ies” We have tried several collars and leads for Penny but she does love to roll in mud and go swimming in ponds, so the collars never seem to last long.  I wanted something I could throw in the washing machine yet it would be tough wearing and soft, and pretty ...

From woodchip to the Earth – My sons bedroom wish list

February 22, 2018      admin      14 Comments

We’ve never decorated Dylans room. We did put down a laminate floor sometime ago but that’s all we have done to it. The walls are still covered in wood chip paper. Going off topic but why did anyone ever think it was a good idea to put up woodchip paper? When we first moved in it was like a woodchip igloo. Even the floors were woodchipped (slight exaggeration but felt like it). Anyway it’s time for his bedroom to get sorted out. Together we have been making a dream list of items and styles for ...

A small window in time – let them play

February 9, 2018      admin      25 Comments

The statement in the above picture is one I often think about. It was written by Magda Gerber who was an early childhood educator in the United States and is known for teaching parents and children. When you have children you pretty much presume they will pick a book up and in time the words will click together and with support from you and teachers, reading will come naturally, like walking and talking. Sometimes it doesn’t, sometimes things happen to make it more difficult than that. In our ...

Anxiety and me

February 2, 2018      admin      17 Comments

78 days (at this current time) since the doctor told me to take time out. 78 days since I was told I have anxiety and stress. I could break it down to the hours and minutes. This winter we had snow, enough snow to build a igloo. With nothing but a ice cream tub and a few pairs of gloves we had a good go at building a igloo. I told Dylan to be really careful as we started to make the walls higher. It was curving in and I knew that if we put on any more bricks it would fall down. This is the best ...
