So many festivals and so little Summer. The choice is huge now. When I first started writing about and taking the children to festivals you really didn’t have much choice but you could now spend a whole summer going from one festival to another. It’s hard for me not to be slightly biased towards some festivals as I work at them but my favourites are based on my experiences and my sons (he helped with this post) and friends experiences. We have picked five favourites and have listed in no ...
Adventures
The drone has landed
“Life may never be the same again” is what Dylan said when he opened his drone at Christmas. He is obsessed with photography so this has taken things up a step. At the moment the weather has been so terrible it has been difficult to get out with it but last weekend the rain and wind did stop for long enough to get out and have a play. The following pictures were taken at home and along the river. Expect more to come as soon as this terrible weather improves! ...
Animal Tracking with children
Before becoming a mum spending time walking in mud and splashing in muddy puddles was not on my list of ways to have a good time. Things have certainly changed! We spend so much time outside and living in the country we are lucky to have so much nature on the doorstep. As part of the Autumnal RSPB challenge we have been out and about looking for animals and animal tracks. The RSPB also have a downloadable sheet to try and help with all of the tracks you may see, my two loved using this ...
Pond Dipping and rock pooling
Have you heard about the RSPB wild challenge? Sometimes it is helpful to have some extra ideas for things to do outdoors. If you are struggling for some ideas then pop over and give the wild challenge a go. The children (and us adults) are really enjoying working through the list of activities. We have already built a bug hotel and hedgehog cafe so next on the challenge list we thought we would do rock pooling and pool dipping. Both activities are really fun and easy to do, it costs nothing ...
To France and back again – Travelling tips
We fell in love with France last year and we did the thing we always said we would not do, we came back again this year. We even visited one of the same sites as last year. I have always felt it is a big world and we need to see as much of it as possible but France has made me change this way of thinking and I would happily go back again next year. I am by far no expert but I wanted to try and share some tips on travelling to France and tips whilst you are there. You can always have a look at ...
Disneyland Paris
We have just got back from the most wonderful two weeks in France. We finished the holiday off with two days at Disneyland Paris. We stayed at a caravan site a short drive away which we came back to at night ready to do it all again the following day. I have heard of people going for one day but I have no idea how you fit it all in. It was hard enough getting it all in over two days. Disneyland Paris Review Disneyland Paris is actually made up of two parks – Disneyland Park and Walt Disney ...
