When you move to the country you prepare yourself for so many things, the one thing I wasn’t really that prepared for was the relentless streams of mud that seem to end up on my wooden floors. The children are good and will kick boots off but it’s normally exactly that. Muddy boots kicked off with mud flying everywhere. The one thing we could do to prevent this was organising a way of storing muddy boots, and the way we have found to do it is with vintage apple crates. Vintage ...
Putting the PitPat through it’s paces
We had a unusual request a few weeks ago. As a blogger you get requests to review all sorts of things. This felt like one of the more unusual. It's not often you hear about something that basically works as a fitbit for dogs. I had a chat with Penny (we all chat with our dogs don't we?!) and we both agreed to test it and put it through its paces. The PitPat calls itself a dog activity monitor. Don't expect to find out much more than that, it tells you when and how much play, resting, walking, ...
Tuesday’s thoughts – Being a exausted working mum
I have been working crazy shifts. Working though the night and working till 11pm with the odd 7am shift thrown in. It works around the children and childcare and I am lucky to be able to swap shifts when i need to but I am tired. Worn out. Shattered. Eyes drooping, squinting at the TV as if I was drunk, fighting the urge to go to bed at 8.30pm, unable to conduct a sensible conversation exhausted. I’m propped up on the sofa, intermittently nodding off, desperately trying to make conversation ...
Time for a new logo
Writing and sharing everything on a blog has been a whole new experience for me. I had no idea when I started this journey, how to build and set up a website so I am pretty proud of what I have so far achieved. The logo I have always used was set up for me with help from a friend and although I love it, the time has come to set up my own personal logo. I have had a search on the internet and they all seemed so complicated but a friend recommended a company called Logojoy I had no idea how ...
Animal Tracking with children
Before becoming a mum spending time walking in mud and splashing in muddy puddles was not on my list of ways to have a good time. Things have certainly changed! We spend so much time outside and living in the country we are lucky to have so much nature on the doorstep. As part of the Autumnal RSPB challenge we have been out and about looking for animals and animal tracks. The RSPB also have a downloadable sheet to try and help with all of the tracks you may see, my two loved using this ...
Pond Dipping and rock pooling
Have you heard about the RSPB wild challenge? Sometimes it is helpful to have some extra ideas for things to do outdoors. If you are struggling for some ideas then pop over and give the wild challenge a go. The children (and us adults) are really enjoying working through the list of activities. We have already built a bug hotel and hedgehog cafe so next on the challenge list we thought we would do rock pooling and pool dipping. Both activities are really fun and easy to do, it costs nothing ...
