How on earth have I missed this place?! Absolutely wonderful day out at St Fagans National Museum of History.
Based in St Fagans just outside Cardiff this gem of a museum is so much more than what is traditionally considered a museum.
It’s £5 for parking and FREE entry! I can’t really believe this, for a whole day out you pay nothing. A couple of Restaurants on site but you can take a picnic in and plenty of picnic tables and places to pop a blanket down.
I wanted to treat my son to the climbing and at a cost of £12 for roughly a hour, I thought that was a bargain compared to some places that do it. You pay and book for it at reception on arrival, I understand it is sometimes fully booked so just be warned.
Lots outside so take waterproofs on a wet day. Also bit of a fair ground and sweet shop so you may want a few pound for that. There is often a food festival and other events throughout the year too and a land train if you want some help getting about.
The site is made up of the museum itself, a history of Wales. Then outside lots of different houses through the ages that you walk in and experience. As if that’s not enough then you can go to the castle and the lovely gardens which again is all free (can you tell the free bit really shocked me)
Really recommend it, I think you can easily fill a day, we actually ran out of time. Absolutely wonderful Wales .
