Today on the school run I was stopped, not once, not twice but three times to have people comment on Matilda’s new coat. One lady described it as “the most beautiful red coat she had ever seen”. It’s probably too beautiful really to wear to school but I don’t want to hide it away. The problem with keeping clothes for children for best is that the clothes will never get worn, especially when you live in the country and have a slightly feral child, but this coat is far to gorgeous not to be worn and shown off. The coat was sent to us from a company La Coqueta, a company that make beautiful but hard wearing children’s clothing.
La Coqueta was founded back in 2013 with the aim to promote and support Spanish design and craftsmanship. Every element of the collection is “Proudly made in Spain” from the choice of cloth to the design and finish of every piece. Every garment’s origin can be traced back to a Spanish family run business and the skills and methods used are centuries old. Their kids clothing and shoes are beautifully made, functional and hardwearing. As a mother of five, Celia Munoz, Founder and Creative Director, knows how important it is to find easy care clothes that stand the test of time, can be passed on to the next baby and still look great.
La Coqueta is described as “…traditional, timeless fashion for children, that still has a chic and contemporary style…” I think this sums it up perfectly. The clothes have a certain style that remind me of clothes I wore as a child, and my mother wore but are still in fashion. Matilda’s coat not only looks chic and so classic it feels soft, warm and more importantly she loves wearing it. From the gorgeous packaging to the stitches on the beautiful material, nothing is not thought about on this clothing. Little red riding hood loves her coat and I can totally understand why.
