A little taste of the Lanes

A little taste of the Lanes

Follow my blog with Bloglovin As the title suggests this is a taster of the Lane family. The four of us. Daddy Lane, Mummy Lane, Bob Lane and Tilly Lane. We do of course have other lives outside the realm of being a mummy and daddy and in time I will go into more detail but as this is a taste we will keep it simple and short. Late to the wonderful world of parenthood it is a cliche but…

Managing the first few months of parenthood.

Managing the first few months of parenthood.

The above photograph came up on my time hop this morning along with the words ‘it’s 10pm and I am ready to party’. I would love to say it made me think nice thoughts of baby cuddles and kisses but it actually turned my stomach! Dylan was a good sleeper and from 3 months would sleep right through and most of the day if I let him but Tilly took slightly longer and I managed on a few hours sleep…

Sling babies

Sling babies

“You will make a clingy baby” “Doesn’t that hurt your back?!” “What if you fall over?” “Can’t you afford a pram?” All of these questions and more have been asked whilst I have carried Tilly. I didn’t carry Dylan for long, after a hideous labour and the fact he was nearly 11lb it never really happened also I was unaware of the correct way to carry him. I had a forward facing carrier which he dangled in which not surprisingly…

A letter for my baby

A letter for my baby

You’re first birthday has come and gone. We no longer tend to count your age in months but count it in years. Your moving away from babyhood and becoming a toddler. I fear it won’t be long until you are up and running around. You love your big brother so much and adore any animal especially the crazy cats, you have such a delightful personality and you are such a happy girl. I love that you dance to…

Flower art

Flower art

Although we love flowers let’s not forget that the bee’s love flowers too. We only pick and play with flowers that will end up in the belly of the mower. The bee’s need for them out way any need we have. I like to find different ways to encourage writing and flower art is a perfect way. It’s far more exciting to write with flowers than it is with pens. Always make sure children give hands a wash after. Daisy’s…

Days out – Tintern Abbey

Days out – Tintern Abbey

Today after a long lovely walk we found ourselves passing Tintern Abbey in Monmouthshire and with a spare couple of hours it seemed a shame not to stop. An area of outstanding beauty with this beautiful shell of a Abbey in the middle of it, we all enjoyed the time we had to run around and explore. My 6 year old loved running around on his own and just popping back whilst pretending to be a king and I felt comfortable…

A more mature mum

A more mature mum

About 6 months ago I joined a Facebook group for parents with babies all born on the same year and month. I’m not sure why I joined this group, it was a decision made in the middle of one, never ending breast feeding night feed. It’s a lovely group but the one thing that has struck me is how old I am compared to all the other mothers in it. Some could be my children and we could be discussing…

Making a fairy festival camp

Making a fairy festival camp

We love a fairy house, surely everyone does? Be it with sticks, stones, leaves or grass all you need is a little imagination and a good sprinkle of fairy dust to create a home. For this one we used small sticks and tied together with string with some old rags wrapped around it. A couple of cocktail sticks and some cut up paper for bunting. You could take it further and even go as far as recreating a full campsite…

Getting baby to recreate bump photographs

Getting baby to recreate bump photographs

A year ago to the day a professional photographer took a number of stunning photograph’s of a very large baby bump. Today we went out and tried to recreate some of the photographs and had great fun getting covered in paint in the process. We plan to do this every year. Just a little something to embarrass her at her 18th!
