Today we got the paint brushes out but not traditional style brushes. Little hands can struggle to hold traditional style brushes so we made something a little easier for a one year old to hold. We used cotton wool, pegs and paint (use edible paint if you prefer) and have a lot of baby wipes close by if your painting indoors. I started by showing Tilly how to hold and dab the paint on the paper. I was expecting her to put it straight in her mouth but she copied my actions and got stuck straight ...
A little taste of the Lanes
Follow my blog with Bloglovin As the title suggests this is a taster of the Lane family. The four of us. Daddy Lane, Mummy Lane, Bob Lane and Tilly Lane. We do of course have other lives outside the realm of being a mummy and daddy and in time I will go into more detail but as this is a taste we will keep it simple and short. Late to the wonderful world of parenthood it is a cliche but of course children never come with instructions. I plan to share my daily ramblings about life, ...
Managing the first few months of parenthood.
The above photograph came up on my time hop this morning along with the words 'it's 10pm and I am ready to party'. I would love to say it made me think nice thoughts of baby cuddles and kisses but it actually turned my stomach! Dylan was a good sleeper and from 3 months would sleep right through and most of the day if I let him but Tilly took slightly longer and I managed on a few hours sleep most nights and that was on a good night. I'm not complaining (honestly) but it got me thinking about ...
Sling babies
"You will make a clingy baby" "Doesn't that hurt your back?!" "What if you fall over?" "Can't you afford a pram?" All of these questions and more have been asked whilst I have carried Tilly. I didn't carry Dylan for long, after a hideous labour and the fact he was nearly 11lb it never really happened also I was unaware of the correct way to carry him. I had a forward facing carrier which he dangled in which not surprisingly he was never happy in and it destroyed my back. We moved into the ...
A letter for my baby
You're first birthday has come and gone. We no longer tend to count your age in months but count it in years. Your moving away from babyhood and becoming a toddler. I fear it won't be long until you are up and running around. You love your big brother so much and adore any animal especially the crazy cats, you have such a delightful personality and you are such a happy girl. I love that you dance to any beat, even the terrible out of time beats your brother plays on his drums. I ...
Flower art
Although we love flowers let's not forget that the bee's love flowers too. We only pick and play with flowers that will end up in the belly of the mower. The bee's need for them out way any need we have. I like to find different ways to encourage writing and flower art is a perfect way. It's far more exciting to write with flowers than it is with pens. Always make sure children give hands a wash after. Daisy's make a great picture too and of course everyone loves a daisy chain. Back in the ...
